Our ‘Horizontal’ ‘Wiskaway’ 2000 differs from the Victor ‘Vertical’ in that it can be used without the counterbalancing springs supplied, in which case it does not need to be fixed to the floor.
The 'Wiskaway' 2000 is supplied with a set of three flexible rubber bedding retaining straps which are permanently attached to the wall side and can be stretched across and hooked on to the outside of the bed to hold the mattress and all the bedding - including the pillows - in place, when folded away.
To complement our ‘Horizontal’ 'Wiskaway' Wallbeds, we offer a choice of mattresses, flame retardant to Ignition Source 5. Wipe-clean/'waterproof' and Source 7 mattresses are also available.
We also offer a white wall shelf (see 4 and 5 above), complete with two wall brackets, a curtain rail and runners, leaving the customer to supply the hooks and curtains to match the decor of their room(s). We do not currently offer cupboard surrounds, or matching storage units to go with our 'Wiskaway' 2000 Wallbed.
‘Horizontal’ wall beds are generally less practical than ‘Vertical’ wall beds because they take up more space along the wall, are somewhat more awkward to incorporate into cabinets and do not lend themselves as well to use with a headboard. Also, as one side of the bed is permanently positioned against a wall, double sizes are more difficult to make up and to get into and out of for the person on the 'inside'.
Having said this, there are situations where only a ‘Horizontal’ wall bed will fit (e.g. loft conversions with a sloping roof, some dining rooms, etc). Our ‘Horizontal’ ‘Wiskaway’® Wallbeds are available, on a made-to-order basis, for the few situations where our ‘Vertical’ Wallbeds are not the most suitable option.
Our ‘Horizontal’ ‘Wiskaway’ 2000 Wallbed is essentially a sideways-folding version of our ‘Wiskaway’ 1000 Wallbed, features the same heavy-duty all-steel construction, automatically opening and retracting legs, five year guarantee and is designed to be folded away fully made up with all the bedding - including the pillows.
